Scarf Art – Heart Health Month “Ladies Guard Your Heart”

I’m hopeful you were able to join in today for “Go Red, Wear Red.” However, we all know there’s sooooooo much more to Heart Health Month than wearing red. This month is all about focusing on improving Heart Health Issues for women and preventing Heart Disease, etc. To do that, we must be “Gatekeepers” of our hearts as it relates to life, health and happiness. Sad but true, as “Gatekeepers” of our hearts, we can’t let everything or everyone in… We can’t eat donuts everyday or take every negative comment on social media to heart, right? As women, we must keep both our physical and emotional health in check. In the midst of taking care of everyone else in our lives, we must also make self-care a very high priority.

One of my favorite Bible scriptures is “Guard your heart, for out of it flows the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23. I can’t think of a more appropriate scripture when you consider Heart Disease being the #1 killer of women in the United States. As women, we must guard our hearts from all angles, by what we eat and what we allow to affect us emotionally, spiritually, etc. Stress, diet, lack of exercise and genetics are all major contributors to Heart Disease. Therefore, we must stay mindful of all these contributors and how each effects us on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, Heart Disease is a silent killer, more women die from Heart Disease than Breast Cancer. Ladies, for yourself and your loved ones, here are 6 Symptoms You Should Not Ignore:

Shortness of Breath/Racing Heart

Jaw Pain

Dizziness/Light-headedness

Nausea/Vomiting

Discomfort or Burning in the chest or back

Tingling down one or both legs or arms
